La Cinquemiglia del Ghiottone
Tremosine – 1 June 2008
“The Gourmand’s Five Miles”, a food and wine expedition amongst wonderful scenery
A walk of about five miles on tracks wandering through woods, meadows, pastures and perfumed pine woods to visit the picturesque villages of Tremosine. The itinerary features a set menu and covers seven villages in Tremosine. In each village there will be a stand where a food speciality is cooked using local ingredients. Each dish will be accompanied by a Garda wine offered by an important cellar on the western side of Lake Garda. The little village squares will be decorated and at each stopover there will be music and entertainment. Each locality will offer a traditional dish made using local produce (meat, butter, cheese, fish from Lake Garda and the streams around Tremosine, truffles, mushrooms, eggs, honey, extra virgin olive oil, herbs, traditional bread).
The event is really a highly enjoyable ramble across Tremosine’s magnificent plateau, where the mountains seem to touch the sky and melt into the waters of the lake. While enjoying a range of delicious dishes from the past, a combination of Mediterranean and Alpine cooking, the participants will be able to explore Tremosine’s charming villages set amongst a landscape of unparalleled beauty. The event should provide a perfect combination of spectacular views, lush vegetation, green meadows and the chance to enjoy the delicious dishes of a very plain, elegant cuisine using local produce to provide the fine flavours of the past.
All the “gourmands” who take part in the event will have a truly unique day. They’ll be able to enjoy the natural beauty and wonderful views of the Tremosine plateau and the delicious flavours of traditional dishes made exclusively with local produce. And a happy, party atmosphere.
