Parco Alto Garda Bresciano

The park gives you the opportunity to make a lot of excursions of different levels of difficulty. Various paths, on which you can walk, ride or go by mountain bike, depart from every village. Thanks to the richness of its fauna, in the park it is possible to see squirrels, marmots, chamois, roe-deers, deers and even, on the highest cliffs, the golden eagle. Among the most relaxing walks we can mention the ones in the valley of the Cartiere of Toscolano, on the Plateau of Rest in Valvestino and on the Plateau of Tignale.

Hiking Routes

There are several excursions to the mountain peaks of Pizzocolo, Spino, Comer - Denervo, Tombea, Caplone, Vesta, Mughera, Carone, and several routes, where you can walk, ride or go by mountain bike. We can mention two big routes that go northwards: the Bassa Via del Garda (The Low Road of Lake Garda), "Path Montagnoli", and the Alta Via del Garda (The High Road of the Lake Garda). The Path Montagnoli (more or less 50 km) starts from Salò and proceeds until Limone. The Alta Via del Garda follows the old routes of the First World War, and is a bit higher than the Montagnoli, between 1.500 and 1.900 meters in Tombea, Caplone, Lorina, Passo Nota. Hundreds of different paths cross these two main routes, following the ways of the ancient economy.

Natural Routes

The Park offers a lot of opportunities: you have to chose which aspect you are more interested in (flora or fauna) and how you want to visit the park (mountain bike, horse, or the traditional hiking). After the classical olive trees, you will find the vineyards, the chestnut woods and copses. In the hinterland you will find the black hornbeam, the ash-tree and the beech-woods. Here, and on the Tombea in particular, there are a lot of endemic flowers, like the Daphne petraea and the Saxifraga tombeanensis. The fauna is also striking, from the fishes of the lake and of the rivers to the wild animals of the hinterland in the mountains. Recently the eagle and the lynx came back to the woods.
