Alto Garda Bresciano Park
In the world of green and blue
The Park of Alto Garda Bresciano covers nine communes located on the western bank of the lake Garda; the interesting environmental features complement the vast historical and cultural heritage.
The Park of Alto Garda Bresciano (Brescian Upper Garda Park), with it's overhanging cliffs, it's ample terracing, it's winding paths and panoramic streets expanding throughout valleys, mountains, woods, and towns, is an area well recognized and appreciated for it's natural diversity. Instituted in 1989, this park covers nine communes located on the western bank of the lake (Salò, Gardone Riviera, Toscolano Maderno, Gargnano, Tignale, Tremosine, Limone sul Garda, Valvestino e Magasa), and extends for more than 38.000 hectares, of which just a little less than half is covered by woods. Stretching from approximately 65 meters at the lake's bank to about 2000 meters up the mountainside, this territory contains many different environmental habitats and is principally divided into two sections. The first is known as the coastal strip, from Salò to Limone sul Garda, where the influx of tourism has not drastically upset the environment; and the second is known as the mountainous area, which remains untouched by massive tourism and is largely dedicated to agriculture and the cultivation of olives and fruit.
